Staying safe online

Using Yoto Space

Yoto Space is a community for grown-ups, so you must be 18 or over to be a member. It’s free to join - and if you already have a Yoto account, you can sign in with that!

This is your place to find inspiration, experiment, and share your tips for getting the best out of your Yoto experience.

Sharing content

Your Yoto Space profile

Yoto Space is where you can submit your kids’ jokes, facts and draw-alongs for Yoto Daily - but there's a lot more you can do here. So it’s important to remember that Yoto Space itself is a community for adults.

This means that any personal details on a profile (like name and profile picture) must be those of the adult who owns the account, not those of the child whose creations you are submitting.

And, as profiles on Yoto Space are public, you should think carefully about the information you choose to share on yours. You don’t have to use your real name or photograph.

To help keep everyone safe, we will suspend and delete any accounts that appear to be controlled by children.

Listening to shared content

A lot of the content on Yoto Space is provided by members just like you. That means there is lots of choice for interesting new podcasts, or classic public domain stories, or even new audio creations that members have made and shared.

This extra choice, compared to Yoto Cards, or in the Yoto App, brings a bit more responsibility, so it’s a good idea to check that anything you add to your library is right for your family.

Submissions to Yoto Daily

Submissions are displayed on our Yoto Daily page and Draw Along Gallery. If you change your mind about a submission, you can always edit it later, or remove it completely.

You can easily find the posts you’ve made by checking your Yoto Space profile. Then press the three dots menu at the top right of the post you’d like to edit or remove.

Yoto Space moderators may edit posts to remove personal information.

Crediting your kids

Please credit your kid for their joke, headline, or draw-along - but you don’t need to include lots of detail. Just a first name, age, and country (including a broad region, like state or county, if you wish) will do.

E.g. David (6) Hampshire, UK

Photos and videos

It’s fine to include a photo of your child (e.g. holding up a draw-along submission), but we recommend that you are thoughtful about any photos of your children that you might share.

Audio

An audio submission is best kept to audio only. No need to submit video!

Communicating on Yoto Space

We’re proud that Yoto Space is a safe and welcoming community thanks to our friendly and supportive members. But it’s always worth knowing what to do if you’re concerned about something, so here’s what we advise.

Reporting posts and comments

If you’re concerned about something you see on Yoto Space,  you can press the three dots at the top right of the post to report it for review by our moderators.

The person who wrote the reported post won’t know that it was reported unless any action is taken - and even then they won’t know who reported it.

Private messages

Members of Yoto Space can send each other messages by pressing the ‘message’ button on a member’s profile. We hope you use this to make friends with other Yoto fans, swap tips, and collaborate on creative projects.

But, if you don’t want other members to send you private messages, you can turn this off in your Yoto Space account settings (see below).

You can also block and report any member if they send you a message you find uncomfortable.
