As she tries to track him down, she also worries about being discovered living illegally with her grandmother in seniors-only housing. In her next mystery, a Halloween dare leads Sammy and her friends to the creepiest house in town, where they find an elderly man tied up and a skeleton-costumed intruder on the loose. And when a gold cross goes missing from St. Mary’s church safe, Sammy ends up a suspect herself—while also uncovering secrets about her classmates, the Sisters of Mercy, and a much bigger heist.
