It’s that time of year again when many countries adjust their clocks for daylight saving time.
In much of the Northern Hemisphere, including the UK, most of Europe, and parts of North America, clocks go back one hour in late October, bringing lighter mornings and darker evenings.
In parts of the Southern Hemisphere such as Australia, New Zealand, and Chile, clocks go forward an hour for lighter evenings. Not all countries observe daylight saving time, so check your local date and rules.
Whether your clocks go forward, back, or don’t change at all, we know how important sleep is for family routines. Yoto’s sleep-friendly features and expert tips can help make bedtimes and wake-ups a little smoother, whatever the time says.
Try moving your child’s bedtime ten to fifteen minutes earlier (or later, as appropriate) in the days leading up to the clock change to help them adjust to the new time.
Set the OK-to-wake clock to show your child when it’s daytime (a sun icon shows on the clock) or nighttime (the moon icon appears instead). It’s easy to set the nightlight on the Yoto Player to your child’s favourite colour in the app.
Help your youngster wind down for bedtime with Yoto Sleep Radio, a carefully curated radio station, and sleep sounds including white noise, pink noise and natural sounds like rainfall or gently lapping water. All free, all in the app.
