New Year’s message to the Yoto Community

Next month, Yoto will celebrate the 4th birthday of the launch of Yoto Player which we started to ship to customers just before Covid changed all of our lives. A lot has happened in the four years since then and we are humbled that Yoto is now reaching well over a million children around the world.

We’re also very proud of the work we’ve done with charity partners like the Sea Life Trust, Aga Khan Foundation, the Boston Children’s Hospital and the National Literacy Trust with lots more to come in 2024.

We’re pleased to say that Yoto raised a significant new investment round just before the holiday season and we’re already using these new funds to invest in our products, content and our team.

In 2023 we launched Yoto Space, our community hub, and the very popular Ideas Wall where all of you can share your feedback and suggestions for how Yoto could improve, and vote on other people’s ideas to help us prioritize. We are super grateful for all these suggestions and as 2024 begins we wanted to share some of our plans - influenced by you - for the year ahead. With a focus on improving product quality and our environmental impact.

Product Updates

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring our products get better over time, we are pleased to launch our new Live Roadmap of things due for release in the near future, including the following:

  • More options for the right-hand orange button - play any piece of content at the touch of a button. Great for on the go, and for building routines.

  • Apple CarPlay / Android Auto interface - for better in-car listening

  • Proactive product health alerts in the app - like Apple does with iPhones, if our software detects a hardware fault we’ll tell you

  • A new right-to-repair program - official repair guides for Yoto products (see below)

You can see the Live Roadmap with more information on each feature, plus some of your suggestions that have already been implemented, here on Yoto Space.

Reliability and Repairability

Yoto Player and Yoto Mini now ship with 32Gb of storage - enough for more than 600 hours of audio stored on your device. We've also seen that memory storage reliability has improved dramatically with the upgraded storage but we will continue to work relentlessly until we’ve eliminated the dreaded “SD Fail” message that some of you have seen.

Starting this month, we will also extend the warranty of the memory storage part of our products to 4 years. This will apply retrospectively meaning that if you’ve had a SD Fail on a Yoto product previously that was out of warranty, we will now offer to repair or replace it within 4 years of purchase - just get in touch.

We’re also big supporters of the “Right-to-Repair” movements which are gaining momentum across the world. The environmental impact of repairing rather than replacing is hugely positive.

With this in mind, we will shortly be publishing official repair guides for both Yoto Player and Yoto Mini and we are planning to have replacement kits available as spare parts (including Memory storage replacements).

Yoto Mini Back-in-Stock

Thanks to those who have been waiting patiently for Yoto Mini to come back-in-stock. The latest is that we will have new stock availability in February in limited quantities. There are major disruptions in global supply chains which could affect this further.

New content

Finally, we’re very proud to have an incredible line-up of new Yoto Cards coming in 2024 - from well-loved classic stories to iconic music albums and interactive, educational content. We can’t wait to show you what we have coming and it starts today with Disney’s Wish and Dungeons and Dragons for the older kids (and adults!).

As always, your feedback and ideas help us to create better products and services, so please continue to share your thoughts here on Yoto Space.

Thank you,

The Yoto team
