🎵 Cel-e-brate good times (with crafts!) 🎵

This New Year’s Eve, why not get creative with some hands-on activities that'll bring everyone together?

We’ve rounded up five easy, fun, and eco-friendly ways to celebrate the evening:

1. Create Your Own Eco-Friendly Confetti 🎊

Fun, simple and easy – this is one way to celebrate that won’t cost the earth (in more ways than one).

Use a hole punch (safely and with an adult to supervise at all times) to create confetti-sized pieces from colorful paper, old magazines, or even scrap fabric, then mix everything together in a bowl.

You can use this confetti to throw during the countdown, decorate the table, or add a little sparkle to your New Year's Eve photos. Maybe even make a slow motion video of each person throwing a handful or two, if your phone has that function.

2. New Year’s Eve Bingo ✔️

Who doesn’t love a bit of bingo? Customise your own cards with fun, New Year-related images and words and give each player a card and some markers. As the evening goes on, mark off the things that happen. Some examples:

  • Pop a balloon? Mark that one off!

  • Someone says "Happy New Year!"? Check it off!

  • Fireworks? You bet.

…And so on. First to get a full row shouts “Bingo!”.

3. Make a 2024 Time Capsule 📦

Capture what the past year means to your family in your very own time capsule! First thing's first, grab a small container (or a large one, depending on your level of ambition) then have a think about what to put inside. This is where you can get really creative, but here’s some starters for ten:

  • Tickets from events you’ve been to recently.

  • Photos of some big moments in your year.

  • Your ambitions or hopes for 2025.

  • A letter to your future self.

Once everyone’s happy with their contribution, seal it up tight, label it with the date, and store it in a safe spot. You’ll have something to look forward to when you (or someone in the future) opens it up!

4. Balloon Pop Countdown 🎈

Warning: this game may build anticipation as the night goes on.

Decorate 12 balloons, each representing an hour leading up to midnight. Inside each balloon, you can place a fun activity or challenge to complete when it's time to pop it.

For example, you could put:

  • A song lyric to sing

  • A funny dance move to do

  • A trivia question about the year

  • A joke or riddle to share

As the night progresses, pop one balloon each hour and enjoy the surprise activity inside! This keeps everyone engaged, builds excitement, and adds an element of fun to the countdown.

5. Family DJ party 🪩

Everyone gets a 'DJ name' and takes turns to put on their favorite tunes and let the whole family join in on a dance party!

Whether it's grooving to pop music, classics, or your kids’ favorite tunes, dancing is a great way to get the wiggles out and burn off some of that pre-midnight energy. Extra points go to those families who create a DIY disco ball with a plastic ball and aluminium foil!

Whatever activities you choose, we hope it’s a night to remember, and that 2025 is everything you hope for! 🥳 💃 🪩 ✨
