Lunacorn is a book about an aging dog getting her spunk back by becoming part unicorn at a magical park, Seward Park in Seattle. Sofia and Luna May are best friends in the way that only a five-year-old child and a dog can be. Luna is getting older though and misses the days she used to run around freely.
On the day of Luna’s seventh birthday party, Sofia and Luna are drawn into the world of a magical park through a fairy door in Sofia’s bedroom. There, Luna becomes part unicorn - or rather, a Lunacorn! The original idea for this story came to my daughter during a walk around Seward Park last summer.
Afterward, I said, "I love that, let's make it a book!", then I filled in the blanks.
