Right Place, Write Rhymes competition - Terms and Conditions of Entry

Entrants are invited to submit an original submission as part of the ‘Right Place, Write Rhymes’ competition (the “Competition”). By entering into this Competition, you agree you have read these terms and agree to them. Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in your disqualification from the Competition.

This Competition is run by Yoto Limited, a company registered in England with registered number 09542062 and registered office at 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX (“Yoto”). The Competition is open for entries between September 18th, 2025, 9am BST - November 14th, 2025 at 7am BST.

No purchase is necessary to enter this Competition and will not increase your chances of winning.

To enter this Competition you must be (a) a resident of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the United States of America, Canada, or Australia, and (b) be the parent, carer or guardian of a child under 15 years of age, or an educator with written permission from the parent carer or guardian of a child under 15 years of age, submitting a valid submission (“submission”) in compliance with the requirements below.

In order to be considered for the Competition, a submission must:

  • Be an original work, solely by the child, no co-authored works will be accepted.

  • Be submitted by a parent, carer or guardian on behalf of the child, who will be required to agree to these terms before entering into the Competition, by way of a check-box on the online submission form.

An entry will not be accepted if:

  • It is deemed inappropriate to the age range, offensive or in any way libellous.

  • It is in any way plagiarised, or created with the help of Large Language Models or other AI tools like Chat GPT.

  • It is sent directly from an account without authorisation from a parent/carer. Yoto reserves the right to ask for proof of permission. Entries without permission will be disqualified.

Only one entry per person will be accepted, with the exception of families with multiple children, where one submission per child is allowed. Entrants may not win more than one prize. Multiple entries from the same individual will be deemed invalid and may lead to disqualification.

The Competition is not open to directors or employees of Yoto Limited or their families, or anyone else connected with this Competition. Yoto reserves the right to verify the eligibility of entrants. Yoto accepts no responsibility for entries that are incomplete, illegible, incorrect, corrupted or fail to reach Yoto by the closing date for any reason.

Proof of posting or sending is not proof of receipt. Entries via agents or third parties are invalid. No other form of entry is permitted. Please keep a copy of your entry as we will be unable to return entries or provide copies.

Prize:

The prize for the Competition consists of the following:

  • The winner will have their rhyme (performed by Secret Agent 23 Skidoo) replace the last track on the Yoto card The 13th Story (“Yoto Card”).

The winner will be independently judged and selected by Dom from Yoto and will be notified by email to the email address provided at the time of entry, within 30 days from the close of the Competition. In the event of a winner not responding after 14 days, we reserve the right to allocate the prize to another winner or foreclose the prize.

Unsuccessful entrants will not be contacted.

You can find out who has won a prize by sending a stamped addressed envelope, to (i) for UK residents: Right Place, Write Rhymes competition, Yoto Limited, 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, (ii) for North American residents: 228 Park Ave S #48734, New York, NY 10003, from 60 days after the closing date.

The prize is non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives. Prizes are subject to availability. Yoto reserves the right to amend the specification of the prize or offer an alternative prize. In exceptional circumstances, Yoto reserves the right to foreclose the competition without notice.

By entering the competition, entrants agree to Yoto using their child’s name, age and submission in post-competition publicity. For the avoidance of doubt, no further information will be used unless entrants opt in for further media involvement.

Any copyright, moral rights or other intellectual property rights in any submission remain with the respective child. However, each entrant agrees on behalf of their child that in the event of a winning submission, to grant a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to Yoto to edit, adapt, and feature any or all of the submission on its websites, in the Yoto card and/or in any promotional material connected to this Competition.

Your details will not be used for any other purpose, or passed onto any third parties, unless specified. Winners’ details may be shared securely with a third-party in order to fulfil the competition prize. Yoto will only use your email address and other personal information provided when entering the competition as outlined in accordance with relevant privacy legislation.

As stated above, submissions will be disqualified in the event of any inappropriate content. In instances where a submission suggests reasonable risk or concern to the wellbeing of a child, Yoto reserves the right to disqualify the entry and escalate the concern. Escalation will take place in line with Yoto’s safeguarding policies and procedures, which may include, but is not limited to, passing the submission on to relevant third party bodies involved in child protection and safeguarding.

Yoto’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Yoto may at its sole discretion disqualify any entrant found to be tampering or interfering with the entry process or operation of the website, or to be acting in any manner deemed to be disruptive of or prejudicial to the operation or administration of the Competition.

Other than for death or personal injury arising from negligence of Yoto, so far as is permitted by law, all liability for any loss, damage, cost and expense, whether direct or indirect, whosoever caused in connection with the Competition or any aspect of the Prize is specifically excluded. All activities are undertaken at the entrant's own risk. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. Disputes arising in connection with this Agreement shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
