Hi Developers!
Today, after a lot of work internally, we’re happy to introduce two important changes to the Yoto API platform: scopes and verification.
Scopes
Scopes let you control exactly what data your app can access from a user’s Yoto account. Until now, it wasn't always clear, and we’ve had feedback from you and from some users who were uncomfortable with that. With scopes, permissions are more specific and much clearer during sign-in.
Verification
We’re also introducing a verification process. This is similar to our approval process during the Developer Challenge, except now users of unverified apps will see a warning when they log in with Yoto.
For developers who already have an app with users, nothing changes, your app will continue to work as normal.
But we’re asking you to migrate it to a new client ID with scopes, and submit it for verification before the end of June.

There's also a new page for verification status in our Getting Started documentation.
