My son is six. Every morning, same questions:

He's not being difficult. He's trying to piece together his day. For a six-year-old, stories make sense. Explanations don't.
Having a story tell him about his school day as soon as he wakes up stops him asking the question in the first place. The story answers it before he needs to ask.
That's why I built Daily Adventure. It turns your Yoto player into an alarm clock that doesn't just beep - it tells your child about their day through story.
What It Actually Does

Up to 3 classic bedtime stories (Aesop's Fables, Grimm's Fairy Tales, Ashanti Folk Tales, Kipling's Just So Stories, or Dougie's Skypair adventures)

My son still listens to his Daily Adventure story every morning. And he still asks those questions, but less. He understands his day better. I repeat myself less. Mornings start with something positive instead of me saying "hurry up" twelve times.
How It Works
Takes about 5 minutes to set up once:
Sign in with your Yoto account to connect your player
Add your child's info (name, age, interests, favourite characters)
Pick a storyteller voice (10+ options with previews, including French and Spanish voices)
Set wake-up times - can be different each day
Choose an alarm sound and music themes
Optionally set up bedtime stories with a separate card
That's it. From then on, it just works automatically.
You can connect Google Calendar so stories mention actual events ("you have football practice today"), or use the built-in calendar. Set countdown events for birthdays or holidays and the story will count down: "Only 3 days until Christmas!"
Stories are generated an hour before they play, using the actual weather at your location, today's date, what's on the calendar, and your child's interests. No two stories are ever the same.
The Features
Personalised Stories: Every morning is a unique story featuring your child's name, their interests, the actual weather outside, and what's happening in their day. Stories adapt to school days versus weekends, sunny versus rainy weather, and special occasions.
Calendar Integration: Connect Google Calendar or use the built-in calendar. The system knows which events involve your child and weaves them into stories naturally. "Don't forget your PE kit today" or "Grandma's visiting this afternoon!"
Countdown Events: Set birthdays, holidays, or special occasions once and Daily Adventure counts down automatically. "There are 5 days until your birthday!" Kids love the anticipation.
Multiple Children: Manage up to 2 children, each with their own player, voice, schedule, and personalised content. They each get their own story every day.
Story Archive: Replay favourite stories anytime with full transcripts. If they loved yesterday's dinosaur adventure, you can play it again.
Creative Tools: Pixel Art Maker and Icon Maker let kids design custom graphics for their Yoto player. They can create art that might be featured as the daily icon everyone sees.
Manual Generation: Need a story right now? Tap "Generate Story Now" for instant entertainment whenever you need it.
Voice Options: Choose from 10+ professionally recorded storyteller voices. British voices work lovely for calmer stories, American voices are energetic for morning wake-ups.
BBC Newsround Integration: Optional age-appropriate news summaries keep school-age kids informed about what's happening in the world during their morning routine.
[NEW For November] Mindfulness Moments (Beta): Optional 30-60 second mindfulness clips after the news. Gentle breathing exercises and positive affirmations to help kids start the day with confidence. "You are brave. You are smart. And you are ready for whatever today brings."
These clips are recorded by real volunteers, not AI - including our 6-year-old quality assurance tester Dougie. Audio quality may vary between narrators, but that's part of what makes them real. Choose one clip that stays consistent each morning, or turn it off entirely. We're slowly expanding the library.
We added this because Dougie was having confidence issues at school, and a gentle morning reminder that he can do hard things actually helps. If your child needs that same boost, it's there.
[NEW For December] Bedtime Stories : Classic bedtime tales told in a gentle, calming way. Choose from Aesop's Fables, Grimm's Fairy Tales, Ashanti Folk Tales, Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories, or Dougie's original Skypair adventures. All available in English, French, and Spanish - retold natively in each language, not translated. Set up an auto-rotating playlist or pick specific favourites that play every night. Separate Yoto card that updates automatically.
[NEW for December] Multi-Language Support: Full morning and bedtime routines available in English, Français, and Español. Stories are natively generated in each language using natural phrasing. Dates, weather, calendar events - all localised. Different children can use different languages in the same household.

Daily Adventure is part of StorySeeds, a UK-based non-profit whose mission is getting books into kids' hands - not just any books, but books that spark their unique imagination. Daily Adventure helps kids understand their world through story while StorySeeds works on getting physical books to children.
We hope this sounds big, but it's run by two parents, quality assured by a 6 (almost 7) year old. Mum is a teacher, Dad is a professional programmer. No one pays us to make this - we do it entirely out of trying to make the world a better place and sparking imagination in our child.
The hundreds of hours taken to build and test this are all done between work and playtime. Most recently, that included working on it during a camping holiday in the middle of the night while the 6 year old monkey was asleep, ready to test when he woke up.
