Just more content suggestions for cards! Both series are just really fun reads for both adults/kids, and have a natural writing style that isn't painful like a lot of beginner chapter books.
Anna Hibiscus takes place in Nigeria (presumably Lagos) and Juana and Lucas takes place in Bogota, Colombia. They both have independent characters that get into sticky situations but are still gentle/not mean...and more modern...which is an issue I run into a lot with some of the older classics like Henry Huggins etc.
Plus, you learn Spanish and (someone correct me) Nigerian Pidgin.
Both *really* benefit from the audiobook as they will pronounce things correctly, would make fantastic Yoto cards!
My 4 yo gives them a thumbsup, but target age is probably 6-9.
