I would suggest pretty much La Comtesse de Ségur s entire works !
It’s a timeless classic - I believe she is the best selling author of all times for French Children s books. I started reading her works to my children when they were 4 but can easily be enjoyed by older age groups - up to 12 I would say . I loved it as an adult too !
